Most people have a general sense of their weight. Fewer know their body fat percentage. Almost no one knows their visceral fat score, lean mass distribution, posture alignment, or the 400+ measurements that together describe how their body is actually composed — until they step on the Styku platform.
Styku 3D body analysis is available as a standalone session or bundled with OligoScan mineral testing at MyThrivelytics in Rockville MD. Here’s what it measures, what the numbers mean, and why it matters alongside your mineral scan.
What is Styku?
Styku is a 3D body scanning platform that uses passive infrared sensors to map your body’s surface in 40 seconds. You stand on a slowly rotating platform in fitted clothing while the sensors capture hundreds of thousands of data points. The result is a precise 3D model of your body — accurate to within a few millimeters.
From that model, Styku calculates body composition metrics that would otherwise require DEXA scans, underwater weighing, or expensive imaging.
No radiation. No contact. No changing into a hospital gown. The whole scan takes 40 seconds.
What Styku measures
Body fat percentage
Styku calculates your total body fat percentage from the 3D surface model, cross-referenced with validated algorithms built from thousands of DEXA-validated scans. This is more accurate than bioelectrical impedance (the kind built into most smart scales) and far more practical than a DEXA scan.
Unlike scale weight, body fat percentage tells you the ratio of fat to lean tissue — which is what actually drives metabolic health, hormonal function, and how you feel at a given weight.
Lean muscle mass
Styku estimates your total lean mass and can track changes in muscle mass over time. This is particularly meaningful when you’re following a protocol — you want to know if you’re losing fat, gaining muscle, or both. Scale weight alone doesn’t tell you which.
Visceral fat estimate
Visceral fat — the fat stored around your organs — is the metabolically active fat that drives inflammation, insulin resistance, and cardiovascular risk. It’s not visible from the outside and doesn’t correlate reliably with how much you weigh. Styku estimates visceral fat from waist and trunk measurements and gives you a numerical score.
Posture analysis
Styku captures your posture alignment from the 3D scan — shoulder tilt, hip tilt, head position, and spinal curvature. For clients with chronic back pain, neck pain, or asymmetrical movement patterns, this can surface structural issues that have nothing to do with body weight.
Body measurements
Styku automatically measures over 400 circumferences and dimensions — waist, hips, chest, thighs, arms, calves, and more — without a tape measure. These measurements are precise and consistent across scans, making progress tracking objective rather than dependent on how tightly someone holds a measuring tape.
What the numbers actually mean
Your practitioner walks you through your results on screen during your session. But here are the benchmarks most clients ask about:
Body fat %
For most adults, healthy ranges are roughly 10–20% for men and 18–28% for women, though optimal varies significantly by age, goals, and health status. Styku flags results outside healthy ranges and your practitioner adds context.
Visceral fat score
A score under 10 is generally considered healthy. Scores above 13 are associated with increased metabolic risk. Many clients who look slim by conventional measures are surprised by an elevated visceral fat score — it’s not visible and doesn’t show up on a standard scale.
Waist-to-hip ratio
One of the most predictive measurements for cardiovascular risk. Styku calculates this automatically from the 3D scan. Generally, ratios above 0.90 for men and 0.85 for women indicate elevated risk.
Why Styku + OligoScan together
The combination of OligoScan and Styku tells a story that neither test can tell alone.
OligoScan shows what’s happening inside — your mineral balance, heavy metal burden, tissue-level nutritional status. Styku shows what’s happening outside — your body composition, visceral fat, lean mass, structural alignment.
In practice, these two pictures often explain each other. Elevated mercury alongside high visceral fat. Low magnesium alongside poor sleep and elevated cortisol. Low zinc alongside reduced lean mass. The patterns connect, and the protocol that comes out of a combined session is more targeted than either test alone could produce.
That’s why the combo session is the most popular option at MyThrivelytics — and why it’s priced as a bundle rather than two separate appointments.
